Date: 7/3/2008 Title: Doll Bedding Set The Doll Bedding Sets was the first product that I created for Auntie Bunny. The dust ruffle is my favorite doll bedding accessory because it dresses every doll bed up. The Doll Bedding Sets includes a dust ruffle, eyelet comforter, pillow, and lace trimmed pillowcase (coordinated with the dust ruffle). A number of fabric choices are available for the dust ruffle and matching pillowcase. You also have the ability to request a special fabric if none of the inventory fabric meets your need. Each Doll Bedding Set is created to meet each individual customer doll bed measurement and fabric selection choice. Because of this customization, the shipping time is between 10 - 14 days. The dust ruffle has the same fabric on both the bottom and the top to enclose the raw edges and to create a more uniform appearance on the bed. The ruffle is also double sided. The length of the ruffle is dependent on the drop of the doll bed. The drop is measured from the top of the side of the doll bed to the floor. If you prefer a shorter ruffle, you can indicate in the text box when ordering. The matching pillowcase has a lace trim and the eyelet comforter is white eyelet fabric with a thin layer of 100% polyester batting. The corners of the dust ruffle, pillow, pillowcase, and comforter are tripled sewn in the corners to resist tears when your little girl is playing with her dolls. The dust ruffle, pillow, and comforter is hand sewn closed after turning the fabric right side out for a more clean finish. This is a personal preference of mine. I do not like to see the finishing seam sewn on the right side of the fabric like so many mass production products do now. All items can be machine washed in cold water on the gentle cycle and dryed on a low setting (remove promptly when dried). Auntie Bunny Date: 11/18/2007 Title: Sizes of Doll Bedding For most of the products on Auntie Bunny, the pricing is based on three sizes: small, medium, and large. The sizes are primarily based on the length of the doll bed or cradle. Small - doll beds/cradles that are 10 - 13 inches in length Medium - doll beds/cradles that are 14 - 24 inches in length Large - doll beds/cradles that are 25 - 36 inches in length The doll bed size corresponds with the 11" (small), 18" (medium), and 23" (large) dolls. The price quoted on the doll bedding product page is for the small. The checkbox above the Add to Cart button  gives you the option of selecting small, medium and large. The doll bed length dimensions are also included in this section along with the additional cost of the medium and large sizes.Auntie Bunny also offers doll bedding for miniature dollhouses. There is only one size and price for the miniature doll bedding. You can also request a special quote for doll bed mattresses or doll bedding that is outside these dimensions at Auntie Bunny by emailing at bholling@auntiebunny.com. Auntie Bunny Date: 11/11/2007 Title: Pretend Play for Children Pretend Play For Children Of All Ages by Nicole Munoz Little children have very big imaginations. Make-believe and pretend play are a primary part of daily play for most children. As early as the toddler years, little ones create their own play scenarios. Pretend play and dramatic play typically continue throughout childhood, into the late elementary years and is a vital part of healthy childhood development. Imaginative play helps a child explore her own feelings and emotions about a variety of situations. Children can overcome fears, like going to the doctor, through pretend play. They can consider all kinds of different career tracks or practice the parenting skills they will use in the future. Children can pretend alone or in group play with their friends. Both solo and group dramatic play enhances language skills, social behavior, problem solving, and many other areas of development. Most children can play make-believe with a bare minimum of toys and props, but there are a number of items that will make play time even more fun. The best toys to encourage pretend play are those that allow a child to use his imagination to decide the toy’s purpose. Choose safe, long-lasting toys that fit with your child’s personal interests. Provide your child with a selection of age-appropriate toys that promote self-discovery and creativity. Toddler aged children usually play alone or play parallel to another child who is playing similarly, but will typically not participate in group play. Children this age like to imitate their parents. Ride-on cars and push toys like small vacuum cleaners or lawnmowers not only enhance muscle development, they also encourage toddlers to pretend. Toys that allow children to play house are typically the beginning of many years of dramatic play. As a child progresses into his preschool years, play becomes much more social. Preschoolers love to play in small groups and their growing language skills can take dramatic play to new levels. At this age most children are still primarily interested in the way life works at home so provide plenty of everyday household type toys. Miniature cleaning supplies, food and kitchen utensils, and child-sized furniture are all ideal choices. Dress-up clothes, puppets, and soft dolls will also spur a preschooler’s imagination. Provide your preschooler with a variety of art supplies as well. Crayons, paper, glue sticks, yarn, tissue paper, felt scraps, and buttons will allow your child to create her own imaginary toys and props. Dollhouses are also excellent preschool toys for pretend play. The Our House dollhouse includes all the furniture your little one will need to play house with the included family of four. Older preschoolers and early elementary age children are beginning to explore their communities. Blocks and toy buildings allow children to create neighborhoods and cities in their play. Over-sized boxes or play tents can provide life-size buildings for a pretend community. Children this age enjoy dolls and action figures as well as dress-up clothes and accessories for community figures like the mail man or police officers. During the elementary school years, children will begin to practice their lives as adults. School-age children have more specific interests and hobbies and place great value on their friends. Small tools and wood-working equipment are great for imaginative play at this age. Dolls, action figures, and all their accessories encourage older children to pretend as well. Provide your school-age child with a selection of science toys, magic kits, and toys specific to a certain profession, like veterinarian instruments and stuffed animals or digging tools and a magnifying glass for an archeologist. No matter what age your child is, stay involved in his play. Encourage pretend play by asking open-ended questions and remember to follow your child’s lead while you play together. For each doll bedding product, you can enter the doll bed measurements in the text box that appears below the Add to Cart button .For mattresses, you will need length, width, and lip. The length and width is the inside dimension of the doll bed where the mattress will be placed. The lip is the measurement from the inside bottom of the doll bed to the top of the side. The lip is typically 1/2 inch to 2 inches. The lip will determine the thickness of the mattress. For the dust ruffle and the comforter, you will need the length, width, and drop. The length and width is the same for the mattress. The drop is the measurement from the top of the side of the doll bed to the floor. The drop will determine the size of the ruffle of the dust ruffle and the width of the comforter. See the pictures below for examples of the length, width, lip, and drop. My name is Beth Hollingsworth and I officially started Auntie Bunny one year ago by launching the Auntie Bunny website. Unofficially, Auntie Bunny has been an idea in my head that grew and changed over time for about seven years. Why Auntie Bunny? Because I am an aunt and a very long time ago, Bunny was a family nickname. The name seem to invoke the image that I wanted my products to follow. A caring and loving aunt who wanted to help her nieces enjoy and accessorize their imagination while playing. The idea started when my sister purchased a doll bed for our oldest niece seven years ago. The doll bedding that came with the doll bed was very lacking. I decided that I was going to buy a doll bedding set (dust ruffle, comforter or blanket, and pillow) to dress up the doll bed. To my surprise, there was very few options available, both at the retail stores and on-line. The doll bedding sets that I did like did not fit the doll bed my sister had purchased. I discovered that there was no standard size for doll beds. There were general assumptions made on the different doll sizes (11", 18", and 23") but no two doll beds were created the same. I decided to put my sewing machine to use. My mother taught me to sew when I was 10 years old and in 4-H (a great organization to be discussed in another entry). I searched for sewing patterns and again found a very limited range. I did finally purchase a pattern and made a dust ruffle and pillow. Over the next seven years and several more nieces, I threw away the pattern and started creating the doll bedding line that is on Auntie Bunny. I ended up with a box full of trial and error pieces that my nieces play with when they visit me. The designs that I created are very simple and traditional. Knowing that no two doll beds were the same, I setup Auntie Bunny to custom make the majority of the doll bedding (mattress, linen/sheets, comforter, blankets, quilts, and pillows) to each individual customer's doll bed. I also wanted to give a wide selection of fabric. My fabric inventory selection is still growing but I will try to obtain a fabric that will match your little girl's personality. Several customers have email me sample fabrics and others have requested that I try to match the bedding of their little girl's bedroom. If at all possible, I will try to do my best to create a unique doll bedding set for your little girl. Obviously, the prices of the doll bedding sets are currently set for the fabric that I have in inventory. Some requested fabrics may cost more and I may need to adjust the cost of the bedding. You will get a detailed quote by email on any special quote. I plan to expand the doll bedding product line and also add personalized pillows and pillowcases for children. I am currently working on personalized tooth fairy pillows that will be added shortly.
